Writing Haikus

I have always been a fan of poetry. One type of poetry I really enjoy reading is the haiku. The haiku is a poem that usually consists of three lines with a total of 17 syllables. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line 7 syllables, and the third line 5 syllables. It describes one event, idea, thing, etc...

So, here's what I would like to suggest:
Let's ALL write a haiku (teachers included) and post it to this blog. Here is mine.

The North Star
Mysterious light
Brilliant but unreachable
Guiding my way home.

Mrs. Whelan

Now it's your turn. (Students: make sure to only use your first name.)

CREATIVE WRITING

I STAND HERE IN THE EMPTY HOUSE THAT I ONCE CALLED MY HOME. STARING AT THE FIRE PLACE WHERE ALL MY MEMORIES USE TO STAND. NOW WE’VE BEEN EVICTED 6 NIGHTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS, AND I’M WALKING OUT WITH THE WIND AND SNOW BLOWING ME BACK, BUT I KEEP WALKING LOOKING FOR A NEW FIRE PLACE!
