Holiday Traditions

Every year at our home, we have a tradition during the holidays. The Friday after Thanksgiving we put up our Christmas tree. I love the beautiful, twinkling lights as they shine throughout our home at night. I love the feeling of comfort and peace the atmosphere gives to me.

Each of us has a special tradition during the holidays. Please share with everyone your special holiday traditions you and your family share with one another.

My family tradition on Christmas Eve is we go to my grandmother's house and we trade gifts there, but we don't open them until the next day. The kids in my family including me are always busy on the computer tracking down Santa. On Christmas morning we open our gifts from our family members and our gifts from Santa. After that we have cinnamon rolls and milk to enjoy the Christmas morning.

On Thanksgiving day my family members go to my cousin's house. We have turkey, cranberries, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn and stuffing. After we're full we sit on the couch and watch tv or for me play with my cousins. We don't leave until night time but I might spend the night with my cousin.

My favorite holiday tradition is on thanksgiving my moms side of the family all get together at my aunt Carols house. Each family brings a dish for the meal. Every year I make cookies to bring and my family always loves them. At the dinner tabel each of us write on a slip of paper what we are thankful for we. We randomly place the slips in a hat and someone reads each slip aloud in a prayer.

On christams eve my whole family comes out to our house and we have a christmas party. Everyone brings a gift and we have a grab bag making sure everyone shares the joy of the holidays. My favorite thing is singing the chrismas carols. We go around my neighborhood singing to each of our neighbors and we enjoy ourselves very much. I love the holidays.

After Thanksgiving we always put up the tree. My favorite part is when we decorate the tree. On Christmas Eve, I go to my mom's side of the family and we open a few gifts. And then we get home and we watch the news checking for Santa. Then, on Christmas we open all of our presents and then after that we eat a big breakfast. Then we get all ready to go to my dad's side of the family. We open presents there too.

A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE NEW YEAR STRIKES ALL OF MY COUSINS AUNTS AND UNCLES INCLUDING MY PARENTS AND OLDER BROTHER AND TWO YOUNGER SISTERS. ARE GIVEN A BUNDLE OF GRAPES THAT ONE OF MY AUNTS HAS BOUGHT OR MY MOM INCLUDED.THEN WHEN YOU AS YOU EAT YOUR GRAPES YOU ARE TO MAKE A WISH IN THE END!

To Jocelyn,
Do your wishes come true when you wish on the grapes on New Year's?
