Hello Students and Teachers,
I am very pleased to have this blog started. For many years I was the editor/publisher of the student-driven newsletter called The Hearing News Quarterly: a newsletter solely for students with hearing loss. Students would be asked to submit written work, art work, creative ideas, spotlight their profiles, etc...I then would gather all the information and put it into a newsletter format, publish it, then distribute it among all the students and teachers who were involved.
Students were very excited to see their work in the printed format and KNOW that they were published authors. It really did so much to boost their confidence with their writing. They also got to connect with other students with hearing loss.
Alas, funding for the newsletter became obsolete, and all of the publishing monies came from teachers who wanted their students to participate in the newsletter.
A wonderful friend and co-worker, Mrs. Vincent, convinced me it was time to start a blog. The best thing about doing it this way is that it costs nothing, except the time and energy to manage the site.
I will posting challenges for students to complete. Teachers, feel free to comment as well. The more posts we get, the better this blog will be.
Now go to the first Challenge--and have fun!
