OK, here's challenge #2. My husband, Jeff, wrote a story starter. Your challenge is to FINISH the story. Let's see how many different endings we can get! Happy writing!
The Prize Winner
Jack and Hannah Briscoe walked into the coolest Halloween party they had ever seen. Black and orange streamers hung from the ceiling, along with hairy spiders, flapping bats and several spinning witches. White smoke poured from the cauldrons on every table and grinning Jack O’Lanterns glowed at the foot of every scarecrow placed around the room.
“Wow,” said 7-year-old Hanna, dressed, of course, as Hannah Montana. “Hey! There’s Marci Fisher as Bo-Peep!”
Hanna ran off to join her classmate while her 10-year-old brother, Jack, in full Indiana Jones costume, found his friend Ollie Hopkins, munching pumpkin cookies as Batman.
“Hey, Ollie,” Jack said. “Thanks for the party.”
“No problem,” said Ollie. “Everyone went crazy on their outfits, huh?”
“Well, it is a costume party,” said Jack. “Are you giving out a prize for best costume like last year?”
“Of course,” said Ollie. “Want to help me pick the winner?”
“Sure,” said Jack, looking around the room. “Is that Jenny Franklin as the Wicked Witch?”
“Yeah,” said Ollie, “but check out Wally Pierce as Yoda. That’s hilarious.”
Then Jack saw a kid maybe his own age – boy or girl, he couldn’t tell – standing alone and dressed as some strange alien or monster. The kid’s costume looked very real, with tall silver boots, a glittery blue body suit and silver gloves that made it look like there were only three fingers. Weird. And the mask was incredible – shiny green skin, two large, round black eyes, no nose, and a mouth that hung down at the end of an elephant trunk. One extra eye waved around on a long stalk from the top of the head.
“Who’s that?” asked Jack.
“I don’t know,” said Ollie. “And if even I can’t tell, that’s a really great costume. I think we’ve just found our winner.”
Ollie quickly stood on a chair and announced, “Quiet down, everyone! We have a winner for this year’s costume party! The winner is, um, you! Freaky, alien monster kid. Come on up, take off your mask and tell us about yourself.”
After a moment, the kid came forward and faced the crowd. No one in the room could believe what happened next.

Then the kid came to the front of the room and didn't take off his mask. He actually couldn't it was stuck on his face no one knew who he was. Then blood started to drip from the sides of the mask. Girls were screaming and trying to rush out of the house. All of a sudden the kid took off his mask and said "gotcha". Everybody wanted to beat him up but instead they went back to dancing. A knock came to everyones ears then somoene opened it was somebody really scary eating cheese and bleeding. The winner was missing so everyone said "your not gonna get us this time" But then the hanna montana disappered everyone screamed and left.
Everyone stared at the kid, again Ollie asked “can you please take off the mask and tell us about yourself, your costumes so great, but we can’t tell who you are.” The kid just stared out at everyone speechless, lost with words. Then out of no where he disappeared. Blank faces looked around; everyone seemed confused, including Jack.
As the party came to an end, people filed out of the house to start their trick or treating. Kids began to chant trick or treat smell my feet give me something good to eat! However, Jack, Hannah, Marci and Ollie wanted to find out who that mysterious kid was, they decided, instead of going trick or treating this year they would go on a hunt. The four kids did not tell anyone what they were planning to do. Although they had no idea where they were heading to, they continued on there journey any how. All of a sudden, a bright green flash came from above they looked up, out of no where that kid reappeared right before their eyes. The four kids shrieked in terror. The little green monster looked the kids straight in the eyes and started to speak. Jack look at Ollie in confusion, the four kids were puzzled they could not understand the creature it sounded gibberish to them.
In English the kids replied, the creature looked confused. Hannah said “well I guess he don’t know English we should go before we get in too much trouble.” Jack replied, “don’t be a baby Hannah the thing looks like it wont hurt us lets fallow it and see were it came from.” “I’m not a baby!!!” Hannah yelled back.
The four kids fallowed the monster through a large forest nearby their houses. Among the vast forest nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary, until they approached a large opening where a huge space ship lay across the grass floor. The kids had their eyes opened wider than they could imagine possible. They have never seen anything like this. Slowly the kids walked around it and examined it still trying to figure out what the creature had wanted from them. Out of no where another creature appeared and this one could speak English. It greeted us and told us the reason they were here was because they wanted to know what Halloween was like and to show that monsters are real and not just a big fictional creature. They told us they were from mars and the kids were excited to have made new friends out of this world.

The alien monster took off his mask and there was a real alien under the mask! The alien said, "beep, zffffff, cssssss lwwwwwwww." No one could understand the alien's language. Jack and Hannah and everybody else got scared of what the alien would do. The alien just stared at the people around them and then the alien got scared. He started running out the doors and Jack, Hannah and everybody else followed the alien to see where he was going. The alien was running to his spaceship that was gigantic. Everyone including Jack, Ollie and Hannah stopped in their tracks to study the spaceship. It was big as a school. The alien was already up the stairway. When he got in the spaceship the stairway shut tight against the spaceship walls. The alien went to the drivers seat and started the engine. Lots and lots of lights came on the spaceship and glowing beautiful colors. Jack,Ollie and Hannah watched the spaceship disappear to the night sky.

Then the kid was speaking, but no knew what he was saying. So everyone was asking someone what was he saying. Tthen finally a ufo has come down in the middle of the party. Then 2 aliens came out looking like him. They said, "we are looking for our son Zixion". Then the alien kid came to the 2 alien all happy. Everyone is all confused and scared. Then the alien explains how they come from Mars. Zixion was playing around the ufo and was shot out through a door and landed on earth. Then the 3 aliens said bye to all the kids. When they left, hannah said to jack, mom and dad would never believe this. Jack said, it's probably be better if we don't say anything to them.
The End.
Then they heard a creak and the windows opened by itself. Then the trees turnend into hands! And then the carpet turnend into a tongue. They were eaten alive by A House!!

So the kid took off his mask and he yelled boo to everyone. Everyone took off running scared and he said, why did everybody take off, this took me all day to get dressed and my mommy to get me here from the planet ZERBERT.
